Greetings:

Thank you for taking a few moments to visit our website. We hope you enjoy what our site has to offer.

The Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians traces its roots back thousands of years to a proud and strong Chemehuevi and Southern Paiute heritage. We are committed to passing along this legacy to future generations of our Tribe; it is a legacy has been preserved all this time because of our status as a sovereign government.

Sovereignty is of profound importance to our people; it is also the foundation of our government. Sovereignty enables us choose our own path, create our own economic enterprises and provide jobs, programs and services that benefit our tribal members. It also makes it possible for our Tribe to provide jobs and economic growth for the people who live in communities surrounding our two reservations in Coachella and Twentynine Palms, California.

Today, our Tribe is a major employer in the Coachella Valley, providing jobs and benefits that we believe compare favorably to similar business entities in the region. And thanks to sovereignty, we will be creating even more jobs with the development of major projects in both Coachella and Twentynine Palms in the coming months and years.

In a struggling economy, the prospect of creating new jobs and new business opportunities can bring hope to a community. New jobs not only generate a paycheck; they also create healthcare and other benefits that entire families can enjoy. New business means boosting the local economy by working with local businesses and generating local tax revenue.

The Twenty-Nine Palms Band is doing what it can to generate both new jobs and new projects, fostering stronger families and communities, both on and off the reservation.

We know from our own personal experience, as well as from wisdom passed down through countless generations, that the only way to move forward is to work together; not only amongst ourselves, but with our friends and neighbors as well. We are as strongly committed to this simple principle as we are to protecting our sovereignty for future generations.

Sincerely,

Darrell Mike
